Gerardo Mateo

Gerardo Mateo is a product leader specializing in AI and fintech infrastructure, with deep experience in payments, workflow automation, and B2B SaaS systems operating in regulated environments. Recognized as a Forbes Under 30 Awardee, his work focuses on designing and scaling marketplace and payment platforms that modernize how institutions transact.

He serves as Head of Product and Founding Team at Glass, a San Francisco–based startup building e-commerce and payment infrastructure for government agencies through G-Commerce and Glass Pay. He leads end-to-end product strategy and execution across AI-enabled marketplace and payment systems operating within a $600 billion U.S. and $4.4 trillion global public procurement market.

Gerardo holds a degree in Computer Science from the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing, earned through an Organization of American States (OAS) Scholarship. He also pursued academic studies at Tianjin University and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

His work has been featured in Forbes and Bloomberg, and he was invited as a High-Level Speaker at the World Trade Organization Public Forum 2024 to discuss digital transformation in public sector systems.

As part of the final graduation project, designed and implemented a full-stack mobile application enabling students, faculty, and university personnel to reserve seats for campus bus transportation across multiple campuses in Beijing. The university’s administrative department faced challenges in forecasting demand and optimizing route capacity across three campuses. The system introduced structured booking, centralized data collection, and real-time visibility into usage patterns, enabling more accurate demand forecasting, improved seat allocation, and data-driven operational decision-making.
